RETTOCAMME is a process-oriented dance group. During the creative process, participating artists are encouraged to perceive and react to obstacles, audience responses and external forces, allowing original ideas to transform into worlds of their own. The works are then frequently re-visited. Changes in musical accompaniment and performances in drastically different venues force the performers to continually experience the material from new perspectives.

In February 2005, RETTOCAMME had its debut season at the Wings Theater in the historic Archives Building in Greenwich Village, NYC. Treading Water ran for two weeks and featured seven works by Emma Cotter, as well as lighting by Colin Huggins, and music by David Lang, Daniel Bernard Roumain and Stephen Rush. They were then were invited by Ellen Stokes Shadle/Danceworks to share their annual season at Merce Cunningham Studios in May, performing four works by Emma Cotter, featuring lighting by Jim French and the music of Brian McWhorter, Alon Nechushtan and Daniel Bernard Roumain. Most recently RETTOCAMME returned to one of their favorite venues, chashama, for the OASIS festival in July.

In February of 2006, RETTOCAMME presented a lecture demonstration and master class at the University of Michigan Dance Department and Emma Cotter was the 2006 spring Artist in Residence at Greenwich Academy in Greenwich, CT.  In July 2006, Emma Cotter was commissioned by Teresa Wimmer to collaborate with choreographers Caron Eule and Rebecca Whitehurst and composer Paul Geluso in "A Trio Suite: On the Flip Side" presented at Tenri Cultural Institute. Also in 2006, RETTOCAMME was presented in two Renaissant Art Salon events, the Solar Powered Arts Festival at Solar One and returned to chashama for the OASIS festival.

In the first few months of 2007, RETTOCAMME returned to the studio with a commitment to exploring process and worked exclusively with the music of Jordan McLean. The spring and summer brought some unique performance opportunities including the Celebratestory Festival in Central Park and the Vox Novus 60x60 Festival. Throughout the summer they performed elaborate installations in the windows of the Jonathan Shorr Gallery in SoHo and were featured as part of the gallery’s August group show: Inside/Out. For their final installation on August 25th, they were joined by musicians Kristian Borysevicz and Jordan McLean.
